PHENAZONE OINT.
FOR EXTERNAL USE
INDICATION:
Phenazone allows to treat inflammatory phenomena, notably in the cases of:
- Arthritis.
- Tendinitis.
- Articular and muscular rheumatism.
- Inflammation of the udder.
- Inflammatory complication of traumatic and various microbial infections.
PROPERTIES:
Phenylbutazone is a pyrazolone non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and anti-pyretic agent. Phenylbutazone acts by inhibiting the production of prostaglandins. Prostaglandin possesses a wide variety of physiological properties, including those involved in the production of pain, inflammation, and pyrexia. The main metabolite oxyphenbutazone possesses similar pharmacological properties.
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
The therapeutic index of phenylbutazone is low.
- Do not exceed the stated dose or duration of treatment.
- Use is contraindicated in animals suffering from cardiac, hepatic, or renal disease, where there is the possibility of gastrointestinal ulceration or bleeding, and where there is evidence of a blood dyscrasia or hypersensitivity to the product.
- Do not administer other NSAIDs concurrently or within 24 hours of each other.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:
For external administration only.
Dogs and Horse:
- After cleaning the skin, gently massage the cream in the affected area.
- Application may be renewed 2 to 3 times daily until the inflammatory disorder is resolved.
