10 mg **Indications and Uses:** Bromhexine Hydrochloride is used as an adjunct in the treatment of respiratory diseases where mucus is a complicating factor.
It is a mucolytic agent that works through two main pharmacological actions: 1.
Stimulating increased fluid secretion from mucous glands in the respiratory system.
2.
Breaking down the network of acid glycoprotein fibers in mucous phlegm, which are primarily responsible for its viscosity.
Bromhexine Hydrochloride has been shown to enhance mucus clearance in animals suffering from respiratory diseases.
**Indications in Poultry:** Chronic respiratory disease (CRD), infectious bronchitis, infectious laryngotracheitis, infectious sinusitis (in turkeys), influenza, and infectious coryza.
**Indications in Calves, Lambs, Kids, and Foals:** Pneumonia, bronchitis, rhinitis, and cough.
When used with other medications, Bromhexine can enhance their effectiveness by improving distribution in the respiratory system.
**Contraindications:** Hypersensitivity to bromhexine, and animals with impaired liver function.
**Precautions:** Treated drinking water should be used within 12 hours.
Drug concentrations in bronchial secretions increase when bromhexine is used with chloramphenicol, tetracyclines, and spiramycin.
**Side Effects:** Gastrointestinal effects, headache, dizziness, sweating, and allergic reactions may occur.
**Administration:** For oral use.
**Dosage:** – **Cattle, Calves, Foals:** 1 – 2.5 ml per 50 kg of body weight daily for 5 – 7 days.
– **Lambs, Kids:** 0.5 – 1 ml per 50 kg of body weight daily for 5 – 7 days.
– **Horses:** 0.5 – 1.20 ml per 50 kg of body weight daily for 5 – 7 days.
– **Dogs:** 0.8 – 1.25 ml per 50 kg of body weight twice daily for 5 – 7 days.
– **Cats:** 0.5 ml per 50 kg of body weight twice daily for 5 – 7 days.
– **Poultry:** 50 – 100 ml per 200 liters of drinking water daily for 3 – 5 days.
**Withdrawal Periods:** – **Calves, Lambs, Kids, and Foals:** Meat and milk: 3 days.
– **Poultry and Turkeys:** Meat and eggs: 2 days.
**Storage:** Store in the original packaging in a dry, dark place below 25°C.
