1000 mg **Pharmacological Properties:** Tylosin is a macrolide antibiotic that acts as a bacteriostatic agent (inhibits bacterial protein synthesis) against Gram-positive microorganisms and some Gram-negative organisms, such as *Streptococcus spp.*, *Staphylococcus spp.*, *Erysipelothrix spp.*, *Corynebacterium spp.*, and others.
It is also active against *Chlamydia spp.*.
Tylosin does not directly affect Enterobacteriaceae bacteria, like *E.
coli* and *Salmonella spp.*, but it exhibits anti-adhesive activity, preventing them from adhering to intestinal villi.
Tylosin also shows anticoccidial activity, particularly against *Eimeria tenella*.
**Indications for Use:** For the prevention and treatment of infections caused by tylosin-sensitive bacteria, including: – *Mycoplasma* – Chronic respiratory disease – Infectious sinusitis in chickens and turkeys – Prevention of liver abscesses in calves **Administration:** Administer orally by thoroughly mixing it with feed.
To ensure even mixing with the feed, it is recommended to blend the measured amount in stages.
**Target Species:** Chickens and Calves.
**Dosage:** – **Calves:** 10 – 20 mg tylosin per kg of body weight, twice daily for 7 – 14 days.
– **Chickens:** For chronic respiratory disease, 75 – 100 mg tylosin per kg of body weight daily for 3 – 5 days.
For necrotic enteritis, 20 mg tylosin per kg daily for 3 days.
**Side Effects:** Tylosin is well-tolerated and rarely causes undesirable side effects.
**Withdrawal Period:** – **Poultry (Meat):** 1 day after the last dose.
– **Calves:** 14 days.
– **Eggs:** Not for use in laying hens producing eggs for human consumption.
