TILMOZINE 280

**Composition (per 1 ml):** – Tilmicosin Phosphate ……………………..

250 mg **Indications for Use:** **Pharmacotherapeutic Group:** Systemic antibacterial agents, macrolide group.

Tilmicosin is a semi-synthetic antibiotic from the macrolide group, believed to act by affecting protein synthesis.

It has a bacteriostatic effect, but at high concentrations, it can be bactericidal.

Its antibacterial activity is mainly against Gram-positive organisms, with some activity against certain Gram-negative organisms and mycoplasma in cattle, swine, sheep, and poultry.

Specifically, it has shown efficacy against: – **Chickens and Turkeys:** *Mycoplasma gallisepticum* and *Mycoplasma synoviae* – **Calves:** *Mannheimia haemolytica*, *Pasteurella multocida*, *Mycoplasma bovis*, *Mycoplasma dispar* **Uses:** – **Chickens:** For the treatment and prevention of respiratory diseases in flocks associated with *Mycoplasma gallisepticum* and *Mycoplasma synoviae*.

– **Turkeys:** For the treatment and prevention of respiratory diseases in flocks associated with *Mycoplasma gallisepticum* and *Mycoplasma synoviae*.

– **Calves:** For the treatment and prevention of bovine respiratory disease associated with *Mannheimia haemolytica*, *Pasteurella multocida*, *Mycoplasma bovis*, *Mycoplasma dispar*, and other tilmicosin-sensitive organisms.

**Drug Interactions:** Florfenicol and lincosamides have mechanisms of action similar to macrolides; they may inhibit tilmicosin from binding or prevent macrolides from binding to the 50S subunit of bacterial ribosomes.

**Administration and Dosage:** For oral administration.

– **Chickens and Turkeys (excluding laying hens producing eggs for human consumption):** Add to drinking water at a daily dose of 15-20 mg/kg body weight for chickens, and 10-27 mg/kg body weight for turkeys, for 3 days.

This can be achieved by adding 75 mg of tilmicosin per liter (30 ml of Tilmicosol per 100 liters).

– **Calves, Sheep, and Goats:** Administered only in milk replacer at a dose of 12.5 mg/kg body weight, given twice daily for 3-5 consecutive days.

This can be achieved by adding 1 ml of the product per 20 kg of body weight.

**Withdrawal Periods:** – **Meat:** – Chickens: 9 days – Turkeys: 15 days – Calves, Sheep, and Goats: 14 days – **Milk:** Calves, Sheep, and Goats: 4 days – **Eggs:** Not for use in laying hens producing eggs for human consumption.
