WATER SOLUBLE POWDER ANTIBIOTIC POWDER
FOR ORAL ADMINISTRATIOn

COMPOSITION :
Each 1 gm contains :
Ampicillin trihydrate ……………………………………………. 200 mg
INDICATIONS:
Ampicillin is semisynthetic derivative PENICILLIN with extended (broad) spectrum of activity against gram -ve and gram-positive bacteria, having bactericidal effect.
Ampicillin is acid stable and well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, hence it can be administered in drinking water to be used in control of systemic infections.
It is recommended for prevention and/or treatment of infections occurring in (gastrointestinal, respiratory or urinary) tracts produced by microorganisms susceptible to ampicillin, e.g:
Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Klebsiella spp., Clostridium spp., Klebsiella pp., Shigella spp., Proteuspp., Pasteurella spp. and E. coli.
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Hypersensitivity to Ampicillin.
Do not administer to animals with known hypersensitivity to the group of penicillins and neither in animals with impaired renal function or with active microbial digestion.
WITH-DRAWAL TIME:
Poultry: meat: 3 days , eggs: 15 days.
Calves and Lambs: meat: 3 days.
SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS:
It is recommended that the susceptibility of the causative micro-organisms is established before treatment is commenced.
Dosage may need to be adjusted to reflect herd or flock water consumption.
Do not administered concomitantly with bacteriostatic antimicrobials.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:
For oral administration in drinking water.

Poultry: The recommended dosage level is 500 gm per 1000 litres of drinking water, continuously for period of 5-7 days.

Calves and Lambs: 2.5gm of product per 25kg body weight twice daily 5 – 7 days.

  • Do not supply water that is not medicated with Ampicillin during the period of treatment.
  • Medicated water should be used in maxim 4 hours after preparation.
  • Do not administer simultaneously with effective bacteriostatic antibiotics.

SIDE EFFECTS:
Rarely, gastrointestinal disturbances.
Keep it in original pack, Store in a dry, dark place below 25°C.
