AMPICIN 200 – Water Soluble Powder

Composition (per gram):
Ampicillin trihydrate: 200 mg


Indications:

Ampicillin is a semisynthetic penicillin derivative with a broad spectrum of bactericidal activity against gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria. It is acid-stable and well absorbed through the gastrointestinal tract, making it suitable for administration via drinking water for the control of systemic infections.

Target Infections:
Recommended for the prevention and treatment of infections in the gastrointestinal, respiratory, or urinary tracts caused by microorganisms susceptible to Ampicillin, such as:

  • Staphylococcus spp.
  • Streptococcus spp.
  • Klebsiella spp.
  • Clostridium spp.
  • Shigella spp.
  • Proteus spp.
  • Pasteurella spp.
  • E. coli

Dosage and Administration:

  • Poultry:
    500 g per 1,000 liters of drinking water for 5-7 days.
  • Calves and Lambs:
    2.5 g of product per 25 kg body weight twice daily for 5-7 days.

Important:

  • Use medicated water within 4 hours after preparation.
  • Avoid administering non-medicated water during the treatment period.
  • Final dosage and duration should be determined by a veterinarian.
  • Do not administer with bacteriostatic antibiotics.

Side Effects:

Rare gastrointestinal disturbances.


Contraindications:

  • Hypersensitivity to Ampicillin or penicillin derivatives.
  • Do not use in animals with impaired renal function or active microbial digestion.

Special Precautions:

  • Establish susceptibility of microorganisms before treatment.
  • Adjust dosage based on herd or flock water consumption.
  • Avoid simultaneous use with bacteriostatic antimicrobials.

Withdrawal Period:

  • Poultry:
    • Meat: 3 days
    • Eggs: 15 days
  • Calves and Lambs:
    • Meat: 3 days
