AMPICIN 200 – Water Soluble Powder
Composition (per gram):
Ampicillin trihydrate: 200 mg
Indications:
Ampicillin is a semisynthetic penicillin derivative with a broad spectrum of bactericidal activity against gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria. It is acid-stable and well absorbed through the gastrointestinal tract, making it suitable for administration via drinking water for the control of systemic infections.
Target Infections:
Recommended for the prevention and treatment of infections in the gastrointestinal, respiratory, or urinary tracts caused by microorganisms susceptible to Ampicillin, such as:
- Staphylococcus spp.
- Streptococcus spp.
- Klebsiella spp.
- Clostridium spp.
- Shigella spp.
- Proteus spp.
- Pasteurella spp.
- E. coli
Dosage and Administration:
- Poultry:
500 g per 1,000 liters of drinking water for 5-7 days. - Calves and Lambs:
2.5 g of product per 25 kg body weight twice daily for 5-7 days.
Important:
- Use medicated water within 4 hours after preparation.
- Avoid administering non-medicated water during the treatment period.
- Final dosage and duration should be determined by a veterinarian.
- Do not administer with bacteriostatic antibiotics.
Side Effects:
Rare gastrointestinal disturbances.
Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to Ampicillin or penicillin derivatives.
- Do not use in animals with impaired renal function or active microbial digestion.
Special Precautions:
- Establish susceptibility of microorganisms before treatment.
- Adjust dosage based on herd or flock water consumption.
- Avoid simultaneous use with bacteriostatic antimicrobials.
Withdrawal Period:
- Poultry:
- Meat: 3 days
- Eggs: 15 days
- Calves and Lambs:
- Meat: 3 days
