DIURIZIDE
DIURIZIDE POWDER Anti-inflammatory and Anti-oedematous Powder for Oral Administration Composition: Each 1g contains: Dexamethasone …………………………..
0.25 mg Hydrochlorothiazide ……………………….
75 mg Indications: Cattle: Congestion and oedema of the udder Persistent oedema during lactation Pulmonary congestion and oedema Oedema of surgical wounds Oedema of allergic conditions Properties: Dexamethasone is a synthetic adrenocorticoid with approximately a 7 times higher anti-inflammatory potency than prednisolone and 30 times that of hydrocortisone.
Adrenocorticoids act on the HPA at specific receptors on the plasma membrane.
On other tissues, the adrenocorticoids diffuse across cell membranes and complex with specific cytoplasmic receptors, which enter the cell nucleus and stimulate protein synthesis.
Adrenocorticoids have antiallergic, anti-toxic, antishock, antipyretic, and immunosuppressive properties.
Dexamethasone has only minor mineralocorticoid activities and does not induce water and sodium retention.
Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic acting by inhibition of sodium resorption, facilitating oedema resorption.
It also eliminates chloride ions.
Potassium and bicarbonate diuresis is not observed in ruminants.
It does not induce hypokalemia or acidosis or alkalosis.
